Introduction Born und grown up in Austria, but with English/American family roots, I am a bit between the languages. German is my mother tongue and English is of habitual use in communications with my relations and during my former career. Due to my professional experience in the IT business I am used to work fast, accurately and reliably and always in due consideration of customer requirements. Now, since I am retired, I am concentrating all my intellectual energy onto translating. For me it means a lot of joy to deal with languages and the subtle differences in wording and style. "What you like doing, you do best!" is my credo.
In April 2011 I completed my university degree in Translation Studies at Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg with English and Spanish as my foreign languages. My elective subject, Medicine, as well as my long-term employment as a personal carer at a home care nursing service for persons with severe physical disabilities, helped me gain an extensive knowledge in the field of medicine and healthcare. Subsequent to my position as the project manager of a branch office at an internationally operating translation and interpreting agency, I left Germany to settle in Melbourne, where I started working as a customer service representative in the department for technical support at an Australian telecommunications company and Internet service provider. However, to revert to my primary objectives, I have started my own business as a self-employed translator to avail myself of the experiences I gained during my previous employments. My key competences therefore reside in medicine and healthcare, telecommunications, information technology, as well as tourism, music, arts and culture. In addition to translating texts from the English and Spanish into the German language, I am also happy to proofread translated texts for other colleagues, as well as any other texts.
I have a wide array of skills which make me a jack of all trades. I am an avid reader and writer who is dedicated to the job at hand
