Our company seeks writers with good English and French skills to translate how-to articles to Dutch. Articles range in length, but average around 60-800 words.
You need to have excellent Dutch grammar and spelling, and very good English comprehension. Computer translated articles will not be accepted. We are not seeking word-for-word, literal translations. Instead, we want you to write in natural sounding Dutch using the English content as source material. The goal of this project is to create fully localized content that is helpful and reads naturally to Dutch readers - we do not want articles that track the grammar, phrasing, or idioms of English.
Contractors who do a good job and deliver articles reliably will be offered regular work. The first stage of the job is a 3 article test (3 $10.00 articles) , which is what you are bidding on here. Good performance on the test will lead to you being offered additional work on similar articles and rate.
As part of your application, we would like you to rewrite this short sample in natural-sounding Dutch. Those writers who do a good job with this will be offered a chance to complete the paid test. When you have completed your translation of the sample, please paste (with your name) into a Freelancer message.
How to Accomplish a Goal
Everyone has dreams. Whether they are big or small, they have vast importance in our lives. However, the procrastinator in all of us doesn't have to win. The Little Engine That Could was on to something with the whole "I think I can" mentality. With just a little bit of planning, accomplishing a goal is a simple task.
Start working toward your goals today. Ask yourself, "What can I do today to get one step ahead, however small, closer to achieving my goals?" Stay focused and believe in yourself even if others do not believe in you.
Set a realistic but challenging/inspiring goal. Take a big dream, like "I want to be famous," and break it down into smaller, more manageable steps, like "I want to star in a science fiction movie," "I want to go to three auditions a week," "I want to move to another city" and "I want to save $5,000 so I can move." Make the goal big enough to challenge and excite you, but not so big that you hesitate to take the first step.
Things don't always work out as you had planned. Stick to your goals, but be flexible. Often, something will work itself out in a different way than you expected, but that doesn't necessarily make it bad. Keep an open mind.
