Project Description

Project involves transcribing 47 interviews made in Spain in October 2006 into Spanish Word documents – no translating.

Service provider will download approx 205 mp3 files (total time of recording is 17 hours 20 minutes) so must have digital transcribing capabilities.

Interviews consist of cross-cultural “documentary film”-type questions about daily life, historical events, perceptions, etc. for beginning and intermediate students of Spanish in the US, so the transcribing will be involve normal, non-technical Spanish. The 47 interviews average 22 minutes in length each, with a typical person answering 20-30 questions.

After each interview has been transcribed into a Word document, service provider will also be responsible for breaking each unique response to a question into a separate email.

So each completed interview will involve transmitting one MS Word document and about 30 separate email files, thus adding a few additional minutes of emailing work to each of the 47 interview transcriptions. Be sure to budget a few hours for this extra step.

Since this project will also involve additional interviews in Mexico later this year (2007) we would be interested in working with someone currently in Mexico with a interest in journalism, documentary video, interviewing, etc.
