Mini Signage App
Top level summary
This project is to develop a small standalone digital signage application that will use a motion sensor to detect people walking up to the kiosk and a touch screen for interaction as well as a speed dial telephone. The application is to cover the entire 42 or 32 inch portrait screen with no Windows controls. Users in a public space must not be able to exit the application or access the operating system in any way. The computer and components will be enclosed in a locked enclosure. Use of a plug in keyboard or mouse can be used for service. There may or may not be a vandal resistant keyboard present. If present the keyboard is hardware restricted from the user pressing CTRL, ALT, Del and other key combinations that may present a security risk. All video and image files are stored on the local drive and played in order selected. When in attract mode images are played in a rotating sequence continuously with no scheduler from a file folder labeled “Attract”. The main screen will only show the image and a small bar across the bottom of the screen with the caption to touch for web browser. A motion detector will be used to flip to a second set of images from a file folder called “Details”. This folder has videos to be played in a rotating order with no scheduler while a person is in front of the kiosk. On departure of the detected person the first list of images “Attract” will return to the play mode. On the right side of the kiosk is a vandal resistant speed dial phone. The hook switch of this phone is connected to two pins of the PC serial port. When the phone is taken off hook the screen changes to display a dialing directory. This directory is a static image of the preset numbers contained in the telephone. There is no data or dialing interaction from the PC to the phone. When the phone is returned to the on hook position or after XX minutes the first list of images “Attract” will return to the play mode. The touch screen and bar at the bottom is used to bring up a web browser. The browser may come up when any part of the screen is touched not just the bar. The purpose of the bar is to indicate an event on touch. Presently the web browser from Provisio called “Site kiosk” is preferred. This application provides a very robust filtering and control system. Licensing of this software will be provided. Other web components will be accepted and reviewed providing they contain similar strength controls as the Site Kiosk application. This application is to be written in VB.NET, C++.Net or WPF for Windows 7 32 or 64 bit. Contact us for the full project details to submit a fixed price bid.
