Develop a general-purpose add-in for Excel 2010 and Windows 7 that repeatedly enters different values in a defined cell. The cell values, called independent variables, have dependents but not precedents. User enters information in a dialog box similar to an attached prototype, along with a cell reference whose values are to be changed repeatedly over a range. The cell value is used in a set of equations that calculate certain desired results, usually on a separate worksheet. The dialog box uses input by the user to define the format of the results and to create a scatter-plot chart that shows a relationship between the entered value and one or more of the result values. The title of this add-in is to be MultiCalc.xlam. Users can open MultiCalc while working with Excel, and the dialog box remains in view while switching between different worksheets of a workbook.

Excel is capable of making calculations where the results of a formula are used as inputs for a second formula, etc. However, this only works for a single calculation. If several calculations are wanted, the user must do them one by one, and copy the result to another location on the worksheet. If the user only wants one calculation, he would not use MultiCalc.
This project asks for an Excel add-in that repeatedly enters a certain range of values into an input cell. These values, called independent variables, are used as inputs to one or more formulas. For example, if the user asked for a range of values between 8 and 20, and in addition, asked for 7 calculations, MultiCalc would enter 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, and 20 into the designated cell address, and Excel would produce 7 different results. Intermediate results would need to be stored until all 7 calculations were complete or written to the worksheet according to the user’s specified location. The results are to be displayed on a specified worksheet in one of two ways. (1) A scatterplot chart showing the relationship between the entered value and one or more of the results; or (2) Complete sets of results (no chart) displayed on a new worksheet tiled vertically. In the case of the first option, the dialog box must allow the user to specify which result cells are to appear on the scatterplot.
An attached workbook shows an example of the use of MultiCalc. To work on this project, you don’t need to know anything about combustion or how the formulae are written on the InputData or Results worksheet. MultiCalc will be applied to many different types of Excel worksheets, involving different engineering problems. Please examine the workbook example to see how MultiCalc is supposed to work. The prototype dialog box needs to be re-done according to good Excel VBA style
