I'm working on water wave energy conversion. my thesis is based on the converter to be used in the project, which is a buoy type. i've gathered wave data's from stations along the gulf of mexico for a period of two years back. Also, i've design a spherical buoy shape as the converter, defining the mechanical and physical properties. my chapter three is on mathematical model of the buoy. i've written the mathematical model including series of equation to calculate the forces such as the excitation force, drag or damping force, hydrodynamic force also known as the restoring force, and the energy available in the wave and possible energy/force transferable to the buoy from the waves. my chapter five is on computer simulation (THAT'S WHERE THE MAIN PROBLEM IS). finding a perfect or partial software that can simulate both the buoy and the water waves, then combine both to get the final results in order to compare the results. that is, the results from my mathematical model from chapter four with the result obtained from the simulation (after combining both) from chapter five. so, WAMIT or ANSYS FLUENT, among others, are software's that can be used for the simulation. But, i'm open to other suggestions.
The scope of this thesis is to present the model of the dynamic analysis (the forces and energy) of the buoy oscillating in finite water depth (sea water/ocean) to a single mode of the oscillation (considering only the heave movement or the downward movement).
