This project is an online assessment of reading comprehension for 3rd to 5th graders consisting of three passages with embedded inferences, inconsistencies, and the need to use prior knowledge, presented one page at a time. A good reader will recognize incorrect inferences, use prior knowledge and generally monitor comprehension. They will demonstrate this by "looking back” to prior pages at appropriate times. Poor readers will continue through the pages in order. The software will track lookbacks by logging every page is sequence that the reader visits. The software will also track time spent on each page for each visit.
There is an initial login, followed by a practice software navigation task, followed by three passages broke into five pages, At the end of each passage, the reader is asked to type a free form text description of the passage.
The software will produce a data file with User ID, page-by-page paths for each passage with times spent on each page and the text summary provided by the reader. The attachment provides some rough screen shot ideas
