On the home page there will be three main options , Desktops , laptops and Accessories . Accessories will simply be a list of products they clients can choose from and add to their basket. As per normal ecommerce site.
The trick comes in with laptops and desktops.
The order process here will work in three phases.
There will be three products to choose from : small, med , large
The client will choose one of those and move on to phase two. (When choosing this option, there is button to simply add the product as is to the basket and pay)
Once in phase two the picture of the product will be at the top with the product price and the monthly price. (the monthly price is an est which I will work out and we can simply pull from a DB eg R10 000 = R550 per month)
Below that there will be a list of main categories like processor, memory, storage, graphics etc with sub categories which will be the product upgrades/downgrades. Eg the client chooses the small desktop option in phase two. The cost is R3000 / R250 pm . The small option comes with a 1 Ghz processor , but they want to have a 2Ghz processor. So under the processor category there are 4 options and they select the one they want (ive included a picture of how this looks.) once they select it the price changes from R3000 to R3500/R300 pm . and so they move down the list and change everything they [url removed, login to view] they finish with one categorie, the option proceed takes them to the next as so on till the end.
After the client has customized the pc to their desired specifications the go into phase three where they add accessories. Here they will add items to their basket such as games, keyboard, mouse, screen , bags etc.
Once all is done the client will check out, and select the payment method.
This will work in two phases but they are jumbled. Because I cant actually build laptops myself, phase 1 will be to select the specific needs they have for their laptop. So they will choose what processor, ram, make price etc and the website will give them 1 to 5 options to choose from. They will then select the one they want and move over to phase two, which is the same as phase two for desktops just with different products(laptop specific, like a laptop bag wont be in the list for desktops). Once done selecting their accessories they go to payment.
They can pay via credit card, EFT or finance.
For Credit card you will probably use a payment gateway to collect the money and send it to me. After payment is complete the order is sent to me.
For EFT, the client is provided our banking details and the order is sent to me and I will process once payment is received.
For Finance, the client is given all the documents they need to complete with a list of instructions of where to send it all. This same information will be emailed to them.
They send me all the details and once finance is approved I complete the order.
I feel that clients must register with us to buy as they will 1 have finance and two need to provide us with billing and contact details.
The best way for this I think is as follows:
Once the customer is done with the purchase and wants to pay (either method) , they must supply us with the details we need (address, telephone number and email).
There must be a note saying we will never give their details to any third party.
Each client will also be tracked by the CMS system so I know where the orders are.
