We are looking for a tickertape overlay on a Windows system. It must run smoothly so maybe DirectX9 can be used for this. It should run on XP systems. The used video cards are DirectX9 compatible budget models. The tickertape will be overlayed on running video or a form showing text or picture. It should be possible to control this from a VB6 program. So it can be a .dll or ActiveX or a standalone program communicating via localhost. Fontname and fontsize and scrolling speed should be adjustable. It should also be possible to specify a background graphics to be used with full alpha support (ARGB 32 bit). We tried with a moving textbox but it does not scroll smoothly, when Windows has to do some hard work scrolling stutters. So our idea would be to use the processing power of the GPU.
