IPhone App

The development of an IPhone App which provides the end user with the option to purchase and download an interactive guide containing around 200 images. Within this App would be the option to purchase from just a handful of guides to many hundreds. No real difficult programming required for an App developer just basic funcionality. ## Deliverables The App is designed to provide an effective tool for walkers to have a visual guide for walks in regions they have not been to before and walks in regions they are familiar with but have not yet encountered. My target client will be Regional, City and National Tourist Boards who will provide content for the basic App pages with local information on amenities, accommodation, etc. and my company will be providing the image guides containing literally up to 200 images for each walk. The App will be promoted by the Tourist Boards through their normal marketing activities and will either be given away FREE **or** at a nominal price of .59p with one "walk guide" contained FREE. The purchaser **must** be able to select which "walk guide" they want to have FREE from the list of walks. The walker will be inspired to download the App to explore a new region to go walking and obtain the following from the App; [1] Complete list of walks in the region [2] A summary of information pertaining to each walk [3] Amenities close to each walk [4] Accommodation close to each walk [5] Travel facilities to and in the region [6] Other useful information such as emergency numbers, groups and associations **Navigation** The App will be similar in structure to a magazine in that there would be pages of information across a broad range of subjects. These subjects (categories) would be pre-defined under a number of headings such as but not limited to; Local History Local Geography Local Transport Local People Local Regions A walker would want to access information on all the walks in the Tourist Board area and in order to access this information I would suggest a two tier structure to find a walk such as; Choose location Town/Village>> Choose Walk>> The walker once arriving at his chosen walk would be provided with the summary as identified in [2] above. At this point he would be given the option to **purchase and download** the complete guide. The guide will contain around 200 images and each image will be designed to fill the screen for maximum viewing capabilities. The size of the image can be reduced as the purchaser is not looking for a high quality image but an accurate reflection of the surrounding area. It is estimated that the total file size of the images in a guide would be 35mb. They must be contained within the downloaded guide and not accessed on a server as there would be a potential issue with connectivity with 3G in some of the remote locations where the walker would be. The guide will also contain a number of pages of information but probably the most important page will be an interactive map showing the points where all the images have been taken from. These when touched will take you straight to that image. From each image you must be able to slide backwards or forwards to go through the walk or go back to the interactive map. Other features may have to be added but this is the basic functionality the guide **must** contain. **Administration** I would prefer to have the ability to manage the App to add new clients (TB's), walks, update pages and add on other functionality as the project develops however as I am not entirely familiar with this aspect of the Apple Setup I would be guided by the programmer as to its importance. Certainly in the first instance if it was to add greatly to the cost then perhaps initially I would choose not to add this functionality and consider it later as the project develops. **Advertising** I would also need the ability to generate revues from advertising on each App even if it was not active initially I would prefer to have the functionality available as and when required. **Replication** The completed and approved App would be replicated for numerous Tourist Boards and so I need to have a firm idea as to how easily it will be to retain the same structure but change the content for each and every client and what costs are involved in what is basically a Copy and Past exercise... one assumes! In other words my company will be approaching tourist boards across the UK and Europe with this project and would view each TB as having a complete separate ad stand alone App but all designed around the same basic structure which is what you will be quoting for and I need to know what cost are involved in replicating this time and time again. **Different Clients** There will also be occasions when opportunities present themselves to make a completely separate App from the guide. For instance private landowners may want to provide a similar App for the walks they have on their estates and I would envisage this being identical in structure to the guide contained within the Tourist Board App. Please provide the cost of this as a separate task given that the structure is already available. **Acceptability Criteria** The project which in effect would be white labelled in the name of a Tourist Board must; 1. Reflect the Tourist Board brand 2. Be easy to navigate 3. Be accepted into the App Store 4. Be easily managed 5. Be user friendly and self
