I would like to pitch writing an article on the new world of the music industry; becoming a working musician by becoming an entrepreneur. What you need to get ahead and what you can do without. Who to hire and who is just taking your money. How to self release effectively and why you need to tour tour tour. It's a brand new world out there for musicians (and the industry) and we all must evolve or die.
I realize that I am overbidding others who have come before me, but I did this because I have a great deal of experience in the music industry as a writer, a spectator and a contributor. Currently I write a weekly interview based music column in the Willamette Week out of Portland (starting 7/10). I have written for Tiny Mix Tapes, as well as Resonance Magazine, Seattle Sound and The Stranger. I have also been an art director for a record label and designed album covers for international releases. Additionally my husband is a publicist for Riot Act Media, which gives me an insiders look into the music industry not afforded most people. If you hire me you will get an article that is unique, insightful and useful.
