Classic ASP / MS-SQL (web-based) Retail Point of Sale (ePOS) System needed for use across different retail shops.
( c l o n e / best-of ) ... of [url removed, login to view] and [url removed, login to view]
The EPOS solution should have the ability to manage workshop/repair orders as well as standard retail sales transactions, returns, layaways, suspended sales, discounts, different VAT rates etc. Needs to be multi-currency and multi-store.
We are a small independent retailer of mobile-phones and electronics with more than one shop selling / unlocking and repairing mobile phones and computers.
The system should support peripherals like thermal-receipt printer (for quick shop sales), invoice-printing on normal printer (for customer invoiced sales), support for barcode scanner input, standard electronic till-drawer etc.
Something like "[url removed, login to view]". This is a perfect example of what we're looking for. "[url removed, login to view]" also has some nice aesthetics which I like but lacks some of the features.
The transaction / management of workshop/repair/unlocking orders is very important. This module needs to be an integral part of the SHOP retail sales module.
We need to be able to create products 'on-the-fly' (simple one-step process) at the point of sale.
Also, we need to process transactions like part-exchange and in-store cash purchases from customers.
PLEASE NOTE: We plan to run local IIS / SQL-Express installations at each shop - therefore not relying on live internet connections. SQL-Express (local installation) at each shop will synchronise to head-office SQL-Server.
We currently use SQL-Express 2005 and (SQL-Server 2005 Std + SQL-Server 2008 Ent) at Head-Office.
We may consider MS-Access 2007 / 2010 alternatives for ePOS user-interface - but NOT for data storage.
I may consider php / mySql technologies if it's going to be quicker, cheaper and a better user experience.
Note: Developers should not be too worried about the peripherals like TILL-DRAWER, RECEIPT-PRINTER, BARCODE-SCANNER etc. These are very simply to implement. The till-drawer is simply sent a hex-code command via a com-port to open the drawer - very simple and straight-forward. The receipt printer is simply a thermal printer (such as Epson TM-T88III or PosiFlex PP8000). The barcode-scanner is simply an alternative to keyboard input. These peripheral devices are simple to work with - nothing complicated at all.
