Give the Panavia Tornado its missing shadow - rebooting a classic Flight Simulator

In 1993, Digital Integration created a DOS flight simulator which many consider a classic. Tornado.

See Wikipedia: [login to view URL](1993_video_game)

Digital Integration's Tornado source code was released to Github as open source in 2017 and 2018.

2017: [login to view URL] (1993 original source code)

2018: [login to view URL] (modded source code)

The source code is the 3D engine of the game, written by one person, the original programmer who is still living and contactable (by me). The source code can be compiled into a single executable file - FIGHT.EXE.

The game's biggest visual defect/omission is the Tornado aircraft lacks a shadow. The aim of the project is to add a working, functional shadow beneath the Tornado in the game. The shadow should be dynamic in that:

* it assumes a 12 o'clock sun position

* it can grow and shrink based on the height of the Tornado from the ground

* it can show on slopes, gradients and hills modeled in the game

* be in the same shape as the modelled Tornado, but of course shown in the proper perspective

Pricing based on which tier you are able to work your 'magic' with:

Tier1: USD$750 will be the amount to crowd-fund a basic, crude but functioning shadow for the player's single Tornado

Tier2: USD$950 for a working, elegant and functioning shadow for the player's single Tornado

Tier3: USD$1,300 for a working, elegant and functioning shadow for the player's single Tornado including all drone Tornados

Tier4: USD$1,500++ for a working, elegant and functioning shadow for all aircraft in the game

If you are a programmer who is able to code in 16-bit x86 ASM (assembly language), please see if you will be able to add a shadow to the gamer's Tornado. If you are interested, please contact me. Even better, if you can create or show a working prototype, or proof of concept, then the project will be given to you! A kick-starter/crowd-sourced fund will be created to fund your development hours and effort, to complete this game project. This is how the project will be funded.

See how to compile, link and run the source code:

The LATEST July 2020 (x86 ASM) Modded Source code, all ready to compile/link/run with DOSBox is here:

If you are not willing to invest in a few hours inspecting and modding the source code of the game, then this project is not for you. But if you are excited to bring an old DOS flight simulator to life with a dynamic shadow, then by all means contact me. I will bring you up to speed on how to compile the original and modded source code to produce the executable named FIGHT.EXE. I am also in contact with the original programmer who wrote the 3D engine of the game.

All bids are also welcome but only one with a working proof of concept will be chosen. With a proof of concept, then a crowd-fund will be created and announced. I am hoping for funding from flight sim enthusiasts. Probably gamer dads and dudes who were in their teens in 1993, and are now 40s, 50s or 60s.

Any takers?

Cheers
