rsync and file organizing (quick pay 5 stars)

Having issues on over 700gb; there are many folders that are partial and need to get complete (moved loads of files from location to location) - it is running bash (this is a mac os system)
Been thinking about "rsync" to confirm a primary folder is good "2016/pictures" and "/tmp/other-files-etc" if using chksum to verify any file overwritten is identical or renamed if not could ensure that I remove duplicates and have "complete folders" an efficient disk space usage?
Here is what I am thinking:
command:
bash myscript pictures other-files-ec
1. rsync 2016/pictures /tmp/other-files-etc
2. do a chksum to see if the two folders match
3. if they match; delete other-files-etc
4. if they do not match show difference some how
Is there a solid way to handle this; not lose any key files and ensure that no duplicates exist or properly handled and files that have file (1).txt, file (2).txt are dealt with as well.

Helping me get this working properly will be the delivery and goal.
Please note there is hope we can mutually complete this task; we can leave each other nice comments and 5 stars for each?
Please note project is due in (2) two hours as this projects deadline, as this is needed asap from the time we start.
