I need a simple AIM (AOL instant messenger) posting bot created. The bot needs to read the posting contents off of a local pc its running on, take that content (text file), post it to the list of signed up buddies, then rename the local pc text file (with time/date stamp name) and wait to post again. The text file it reads from will always have the same exact name, and be in the same exact directory every time.
The bot needs to be able to add or delete users it posts to by having that user type a certain phrase or sentence and sending it to the bot. I need to be able to have multiple bots running on the same pc, each one can use a different text file name that is always fixed. (max of 5 running at once).
The bot needs to be able to scan for a new file approximately every 10 - 15 seconds. When it finds content, it blasts the posts to all the signed up users, then renames the text file and waits for the next check interval.
AIM has an SDK that details how to program a simple bot. Ideally I would like the implementation open enough that in the future it can be expanded upon to allow users to type in certain phrases and the bot knows to grab XXXXX chunk of data from a database and respond back this information. Right now, this is not necessary but I want this option in the future, if possible to expand the project further.
