We are looking to find a long term arrangement with a programmer or two that is an expert in Visual FoxPro. The posted project is a small bug we have in part of our current system that we are using as a test to determine skill and speed. We are not just choosing one person for this project, I want as many people to do this task as possible, post your qualifications and I will give you the go ahead to try the project, you will get paid whether or not we use your code. This is more an attempt to find a long term programmer, that we intend to give a large amount of business to. This is a one day, two day at max project - if you can't complete the work in that amount of time, you aren't right for the position. Payment will be $150-200 for each person that I give the go ahead to.
Described below is the test project:
The first task I'd like to try with you, is to look at the code for a class called sizer.
It dynamically resizes forms in VFP.
It mostly works fine, resizing the fonts when you press ALT up and ALT down but for some forms it causes strange results.
The problems are that people tend to connect using different computers with different screen resolutions.
Please see the attached Sizer class and [url removed, login to view]
Please give us an estimate of how you like to work.
To see the problems..
0. Make sure you have a drive mapped as K:
1. Set your system variables gTesting=.f., mLoginID='DH', mOperator = 'DAVID', open any dbf
2. do form browmsg
3. grab a corner and size the form.
4. use the alt up, alt down to change the font size
5. exit the form and change your screen resolution, re run the form on the same database.
-. The browmsg form contains a few calls for external programs, if you happened to right-click on
a column called SYF or SA.
In many instances the sizer class will not properly size the form.
Also, this class and the browmsg and askfor need to be properly commented.
You can see in [url removed, login to view] some samples of calling for a prompt.
These work fine for most dialogs, but very short or long with big fonts cause truncation.
The files for this program are located at [url removed, login to view]
We require heavily commented code (at least one comment for every 10 lines), and leave it up to yo uto take the initiative to comment the original code.
PLEASE ONLY ASK QUESTIONS ON THIS BOARD, or direct E-Mail to firstname.lastname@example.org . Do not call, or otherwise solicit us, I am running this outsourcing and any questions will be directed to me.
We're sorry at this time we've chosen the maximum people we are prepared to pay for this test project. If you were not chosen to proceed, and are still interested in this project, then by all means try doing the test project (without pay). Submit the project to us - if it's as good as or better than the best submissions then there's a very good chance that you will earn our future business (which is a lot)
gTesting indicates that you are running with error trapping turned off... Ie you are testing the system.
If there is an error and gTesting is .f. it should call fp25eror to try and resolve the error nicely, ie, prompt the user to put the disk in the drive, or paper in the printer or whatever...
The correct setting for the post should have been .t. as they do not have the error trapping code, although at some point it should be enhanced for vfp.
