Label (PDF) Generating Web Page

Project Description: Create a single [url removed, login to view] web page that will generate Avery compatible barcode and data labels on the fly onto a pdf document based on user-selected fields in several joined MS SQL tables provided at project award. Label settings will be provided in a spreadsheet that you will import into a settings table you create. To create the resulting PDF, the code will reference the setting tables for the type of Avery label selected.

One field will be a field from which a 3 of 9 bar code will have to be generated on the labels.

A test page used to align labels will be generated and the ability to adjust the margins for the test page will be on the web page. The margins will be saved in cookies so they will reappear each time the user uses the page. A sample test page will be provided to the guru.

The top of the page will have these directions: "To get the labels to align correctly on your printer, it is recommended to have Acrobat Reader 6.0 or greater installed. When printing your labels, insure that in the Page Handling section of the Print dialog box that you have "None" selected for the Page Scaling option. If you are using Acrobat Reader 5.0 or earlier you will need to uncheck the "Fit to Page" or the "Shrink over sized pages to paper size" in the Print dialog."

The page will also allow the labels to be sorted on the resulting pdf by whichever field the user selects.

For label sheets that have some labels already printed, the page will include the ability to select where labels should start ("Starting Label Position"). The user will enter a "Row" number and a "Column" number. This is where the labels will begin. A sample label-starting-position page will be provided to the guru.

The page will have the ability to search the data tables for the items that the user would like to print labels for. The search feature will have standard search ability and will show results in a grid format that the user can use to select all or whichever items they want to appear on the label. The search window and results will appear in a new window from the label creation page.

Project Planning - The guru will review the requirements for this web-based page(s) design and prepare questions for the project manager. They will then meet with the project manager for questions, concerns, page design, and database design. The guru will then create a project agreement that will address "Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How" and include page layout(s) in the form of a sketch or computer generated layout. The guru will send the agreement to the project manager for review and approval.

Project Development - The guru will then design the page layout on our test system, apply logic/code to complete the page/module and its functionality, test logic and functionality, and then correct coding errors as a result of testing. The guru will then review the logic/code, page layout, and functionality with the project manager and make changes as a result of review with the project manager. Further tweaking or issues regarding the logic/code, page layout, and functionality may require additional collaboration with the project manager.

Project Documentation - The guru will comment the code sufficiently for others to decipher. The guru will also create "draft" user documentation sufficient for users to use the newly create page(s) proficiently. Final formatting, etc. will be performed by the project manager.

Project Final Review and Approval - The guru will provide the final design, coding/logic, functionality, and documentation to the project manager for review and approval.

Applicable Notes: Create this page(s) in ASP.NET web page using C# code. The database name you are to use is "ERP". Collaboration during this project with the project manager will be by means of WebEx sessions (provided by the project manager), email, video (MSN messenger or AIM messenger), and/or phone.
