Design and implementation of an automated telescope tracking system.
This project involves the design of a computerize telescope system for observing and tracking the sun and the stars in an automatic manner.
The students will design and implement a telescope mounted on electrically driven actuators. The actuators will be program to perform 3 dimensional movements so that the telescope can point to any location on the celestial sphere. The telescope will also be able to follow an object-in-view as the earth rotates. In addition, the project team will also explore the possibility of developing an auto-focus eyepiece system to constantly keep the observed stellar object in sharp focus. Time permitting, remote access of the telescope through the internet may also be considered.
Anyone who can help me with this project? I have 2 motors on the hardware, one to control azimuth, one to control latitude. But I dun really know how to link the motor with the computer. I also need the camera to do tracking. I recieve some comments that I need to use edge detection. If possible, i hope someone can guide me along. Thanks!
