We seek a numerical simulation of a gas around a slowly moving solid object.
The model should start from a basic particle description and not assume
a thermalized gas. Thus, the gas density in 6 dimensional velocity space
is required and non-maxwellian velocity distribution may also be of interest
as an initial distribution.
In particular is the particle-surface interaction of interest and the algoritm
should have a transparent threatment of how each particle interact with the
Particle - particle interactions may be treated parametrically using only a characteristic
thermalization time constant to describe the local change in velocity distribution.
The region of interest should be large enough to include the complete volume perturbed by the
moving object. The object is sylindrical with a radius of 5cm and 10 cm high.
The gas is air at room temperature and normal ground pressure.
We prefer to receive the source code in C, but other programing languages
may be accepted if there are strong and compelling reasons for this.
Prior knowledge of numerical methods is needed to be accepted for this project.
