We are a web development company and are specing out a bug tracking system at the moment.
We would like to have a program to take screenshots of their browser window and this be submitted to our web based bug reporting system.
The way we see it working:
1.) User clicks on little application running in their notification area and selects "Take Screenshot and Report Bug"
2.) Application would contact our server (LAMP Web Server) and be assigned an ID for the image and the screenshot would then be uploaded to the server using that ID as the name of the file. We can write a PHP script if required to pass the ID back to your application just need your guidance on how you would do this? Via URL?
3.) The Image ID would then be put into a URL and the user would be redirected to a page on our bug reporting system where they can report the bug.
4.) The screenshot would be uploading to our server whilst they were filling out the form and once uploaded we can use AJAX to display on the bug reporting screen using the ID that we submitted to the page.
We would want this to run on Windows XP, 2000, Vista and 7 and be as forwards compatible as possible.
If possible we would want to be able to recompile the windows program to allow us to edit the icon (in notification area) and the URL the user is directed to once screencapture is taken.
The only other option we would like is a simple "Report Bug" option on the application that simply directs them to the bug reporting screen. But this would just be a simple hyperlink.
