Suppose that you need to design a docking system for an autonomous ground vehicle (AGV). A docking system might be needed to guide the vehicle automatically toward a charging station when its batteries run low, for example. The system takes measurements of distance (range) that separate the vehicle and the charging station, and the system issues high-level instructions to bring the vehicle to a desired separation distance. We do not have any AGVs available for this project , but you will use an ultrasonic range sensor to measure distances and simulate docking operations. By completing this, you will also gain valuable experience with switch debouncing, with timer modules, with UART-based serial communication, and with embedded software development in general.
