I'm building a car loading system that will utilize two parallel arms with a level platform. I need to have an independent engineer study my design and help me determine the material size to accomplish the task. I am an amature cad designer that has designs systems for commercial fishing boats and now I'm designing a new car loading system that will load a car over the front of the truck mush like a garbage truck lifts a dumpster over the front of a garbage truck and dumps it in the back of the truck.
Using two fixed pivots on the truck with a platform fixed on two parallel swing arms, I can put a car on a platform and lift it on to the roof of the truck. I've built a scale prototype and know the lift ratio if 6 to one, now I need to know how heave the material needs to be to handle the load. I want to use aluminum to keep the weight down and also need to make sure the pivots are strong enough to hande the weight. I'm sure I can just over build it so it's extremely strong, but I also want to patent this system and need to have load calcs to conform to DOT standards.
My cad is air gapped and I can upload once I've found someone to work with. I ready now to move forward with this project and need some budget numbers to do the engineering for me.
