Half Wave Recifier Power Supply for DC motor

I need to create a 50 - 70 volt power supply to power a DC motor. It needs to be as simple as possible. The DC motor is brushed and operates at 70 VDC @ 13 Amps but can tolerate voltages as low as 50VDC. The power source is120VAC 60Hz. My thought was to use a Half Wave Diode with an inrush current limiter to prevent the initial shock of current. I need someone that can just tell me if this can be done, will it heat / damage the motor, what size diode to use, do I need a capacitor to help smooth out the power, what size to use that will not over-voltage it, etc, etc. I would like to keep this as simple as possible so I don't have to build a PCB. This supply will be used outside so it needs to produce very little heat.
Once a design is figured out I need help choosing the parts too.
