I’m ready to move from concept to working prototype on a home-security robot that focuses solely on emergency response—specifically, detecting break-ins and sending instant alerts. The core idea is a mobile unit that patrols designated zones, recognises unauthorised entry, and pushes real-time notifications (sound, SMS, or app-based) to my phone while triggering audible deterrents on-site. Here’s the shape of the work: • System architecture: advise on the right combination of sensors (camera, PIR, ultrasonic, mic), onboard processing (Raspberry Pi, Jetson, or similar), and wireless protocols so the robot can run edge-based computer-vision without relying on the cloud. • Detection pipeline: develop or integrate a lightweight model—OpenCV or TensorFlow-Lite is fine—that reliably flags human intrusion in low-light and daylight conditions, minimising false positives from pets. • Alert mechanism: build the software bridge to push break-in alerts through a companion mobile app/API along with timestamped snapshots or short clips. A local siren should activate simultaneously. • Navigation basics: configure autonomous roaming between waypoints, returning to a charging dock when the battery dips below threshold. ROS 2, SLAM, or simpler lidar-based mapping are acceptable—whichever you feel best suits a first-gen prototype. • Proof and testing: a short video demo plus log files that show detection accuracy and alert latency inside a typical apartment setting. I’m keeping cleaning, concierge, and other features out of scope for now—this sprint is purely about break-in response. If you have prior work with home robotics, embedded Linux, or smart-home integrations (Alexa, Google Home), flag it in your proposal so I can see how quickly we can get to a field-ready unit.

Hi! This sounds like a really interesting and practical project ? I’m a mechatronics engineer with solid experience in mobile robots, ROS2 (Humble), computer vision, and embedded Linux platforms like Raspberry Pi and Jetson. I’ve built and simulated autonomous robots that handle navigation, SLAM, camera-based detection, sensor fusion, and alert/automation logic, so your emergency-focused security robot fits well with my background. I can help you define a clean system architecture, select the right sensors for indoor security, and build an edge-based detection pipeline using OpenCV / TensorFlow-Lite to reliably detect humans while filtering pets and noise. I also have experience with ROS2 navigation, waypoint patrols, docking logic, and rosbag-based testing, which makes validation and debugging much easier. On the alert side, I can integrate local sirens plus SMS/app notifications with snapshot capture, keeping everything fast and cloud-independent. I’m very focused on practical, field-ready prototypes—not just theory—and I document setups clearly so you can extend the system later. Quick question: do you already have a mobile base design, or would you like me to recommend CAD design and hardware based on your apartment size and lighting conditions?

I’m confident we can turn this into a working prototype quickly. I have solid hands-on experience with ROS 2 and Nav2, including mapping, localisation, and autonomous navigation for mobile robots, which fits this use case very well. The system would run fully on-device using a Raspberry Pi or Jetson, combining a camera with a minimal sensor setup to reliably detect human intrusion in both low-light and daytime conditions while reducing false positives from pets. Detection would be edge-based and low-latency, triggering an onboard siren immediately and sending real-time alerts to your phone with timestamped images or short clips. For mobility, the robot can autonomously patrol mapped areas using ROS 2 / Nav2 and return to a charging dock when the battery drops below a threshold. This phase stays focused purely on break-in response, with a clear demo video and logs showing detection accuracy and alert latency in a real apartment setting.

I can take this from concept to a working emergency-response robot prototype. I’ll define the edge-based architecture (sensors, compute, wireless), build a lightweight intrusion-detection pipeline optimized for low light and pet filtering, and implement real-time alerts (app/SMS + local siren). I’m comfortable with Raspberry Pi/Jetson, OpenCV/TFLite, and ROS 2 or waypoint-based navigation, including auto-dock on low battery. You’ll get a demo video, logs for accuracy and latency, and a field-ready first-gen prototype. Ready to start.

Best Home-Security Robotics Systems Partner ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hi, Thanks for sharing the scope; I’ve built robotics projects with real-time sensors, edge processing, and alerts. Your project looks very doable. The goal is simple: deliver a mobile emergency-response robot that autonomously patrols, detects intrusions, and sends instant notifications while triggering local deterrents. ✅ How I’ll Help You Succeed 1. Review your sensor, processing, and wireless requirements to design an optimized edge-based system. 2. Integrate cameras, PIR, ultrasonic, and mic sensors for reliable human intrusion detection in variable lighting. 3. Develop the alert system to push real-time notifications to a mobile app/API and trigger a local siren. 4. Produce a demo with logs and video showing detection accuracy, alert latency, and system reliability. ✅ I’ve delivered robotics and embedded projects where real-time performance, sensor fusion, and alert reliability were critical, and clear documentation enabled easy testing, replication, and future upgrades. ✅ Before I start, one quick thing: Do you have a preferred onboard computer (Raspberry Pi, Jetson, or other), or should I recommend an optimal setup for processing speed, power, and integration? If you share that, feel free to message me and we can align quickly Best, Prat PCB Must Innovations

With a comprehensive background in automation engineering and PLC programming, I am certain that I have the skills, experience and mindset needed to execute your project with precision. Though the focus of my work has typically been on industrial processes, integrating sensor mechanisms, designing interfaces, and creating custom scripts, my core competencies align perfectly with your requirements for a robust security system robot. Over the years, I have worked extensively with various protocols, which I'm confident is crucial in helping me suggest the most efficient system architecture for your robot. Having already established a deep understanding of site conditions and client expectations in my previous projects also positions me uniquely to develop an effective solution for your home-security robot. My work is known for its reliability, performance improvement in systems and streamlining processes. This experience is directly transferable to creating a system that reliably detects break-ins while minimizing false positives from pets. By integrating low-powered machine learning algorithms like OpenCV or TensorFlow-Lite into the detection pipeline, we can ensure swift response time without relying on cloud-based processing.

Hello, my name is Latera Lamesa, a freelance robotics and embedded-systems developer from Ethiopia. I can deliver a first-gen home-security robot prototype focused purely on break-in detection and instant response. I’ll design an edge-based architecture using camera + PIR sensors with Raspberry Pi or Jetson—no cloud dependency. Human-intrusion detection will use OpenCV / TensorFlow-Lite, optimized for low-light and daylight while filtering pets. Alerts will be sent in real time via mobile app/API or SMS, with timestamped images and a synced local siren. The robot will autonomously patrol waypoints and return to its charging dock when battery is low. Navigation can be built with ROS 2, SLAM, or simplified lidar mapping, suited for a Gen-1 system. I’ll provide a video demo, detection logs, and latency metrics from apartment-style testing. I’m ready to start immediately and move quickly toward a field-ready prototype. Latera Lamesa
