I am looking for someone who has written professional-quality user guides. I have all of the narrative of the User Guide already developed. I just need it put into a professional-looking booklet (5.5" by 8.5") layout. So, in some ways, the most important skill I would be looking for is skill in booklet layout and an overall professional look. Additionally, I would need you to check for consistency of terminology, obviously grammar, etc. The final product has to be done in MS Word so that I can make slight changes to it later. I would be asking the selected technical writer to provide several templates that I could select from. I would be looking for recommendations on how to utilize tables (and even maybe when a different format would be called for). I would also be looking for your general opinion on readability and how understandable it is (currently). The current document is about 40 8.5" by 11" pages.
I have attached a sample of what I consider to be a professional-quality User Guide, just as an FYI. Notice that this file has been made into a hyperlinked PDF complete with a nice hyperlinked Table of Contents, glossay, index, etc. I would be looking for that as well.
Finally, English as a first language is imperative due to the nature of this project.
