Need access to my hotmail.com account! I have my password

I am having a problem which is so beyond frustrating I cannot explain or at least I will try. I have tried to get into my hotmail account to no avail until recently I remembered my password. Now when I login I get a It looks like someone else might be using your account To help you—and only you—get back into @[login to view URL], we need to verify that it's yours. I know my password but have been fighting with MICROSOFT to get them to open my account up since I cannot remember 10% of all my security questions when I signed up 15 years ago. here is what they are recommending but I am hoping someone may be able to help me if there is a work around?
