I purchased this electrical timer ([login to view URL]), which you hard wire into your water pump ([login to view URL]). When the water pump has been on for 30 minutes it cuts out. It uses a Omron H3JA to do this ([login to view URL]).
My problem is this.... when the pump turns on (by a tap turning on) the pump is activated and draws power and the timer function counts. I want to soft wire into a cord so I can plug it inline with the power point and the pump. But when I have done this to date it just cuts out at 30 minutes as there is always power running through the line even when the pump isn't on. What I am thinking is there a way to put a diode or a resister in circuit so that only when the pump is actually on and drawing substantial power the timer starts counting and if it isnt tripped (i.e. tap and therefore pump gets turned off within 30 minutes) it resets as per usual.
