My team is looking for an expert in excel. This person should:
1-Be a wizard at building macros in excel pulling data stored in SQL and generating report templates.
2-Have a strong SQL/MySQL background.
3-Have past experience creating dynamic command buttons which sort and screen large datasets.
4-Have past experience with report writing and scheduling development producing high-grade client interfacing reports.
5-Be familiar with report writing tools such as Crystal Reporting Solutions, Quark.ex.
This project will be on going and is looking for someone who is willing to think outside the box and be innovative with their skills.
To add a bit more clarity. We have created one database in MySQL for portfolio modeling and would now like to create a reporting portion based off excel reports sent by a 3rd party. These files will be batched and delivered to a central folder where they will be picked up and automatically ingested into the MySQL database (I can send you sample files if needed). From here you must be able to create dynamic reports. This project is not complex at all however there is a great deal of detail needed for the reporting. I would be open to hiring a freelancer to cover this whole project with right qualifications and recommendations. Please send me your quotes for just the excel portion or the full project along with any questions or concerns. Thanks!
This is my first time using this site and realized I've been going about it all wrong... the more detail I provide the more accurate quote you can provide me. I have a large number of on going project related to the above and would prefer to develop a relationship with a programmer on a project by project basis. Please provide a quote on the below task and I look forward to speaking soon:
Workbook will consist of several worksheets
Summary page – showing the summarized data with Top and Bottom Factors and other information in a single page
New Securities – securities that are in today’s data but not in previous day’s data.
Missing Securities – securities in previous day’s data but are not in today’s data.
Row Count – Lines previous day’s file compared to lines today’s file
There will be 2 sets of pages that look almost exactly alike:
The data is pulled from tables in SQL and presented with no changes.
Percentile Factors – Data pulled from SQL.
%Tile Factor Score Calculations – Data pulled from SQL.
Raw Factors – Data pulled from SQL
Raw Factor Score Calculations – Data pulled from SQL
Workbook is saved off daily, after processing with an easily understood naming convention and dating method. Such as FactorReport.20110810
Automatic update of workbook when the data in SQL is updated.
Client can run the Excel portion manually, as long as the data is available in the correct location. This would be most useful if there were several days of reprocessing to be done.
In general it is assumed that the process is daily with little need to go back, and re-process for previous days, but the functionality is desired to be included.
Note: Top Score Improvements and Top 10 Score Reductions
This will require comparing current day’s factor score (%Tile Factor Score Calculations worksheet, Column O) with the previous day’s factor score. The previous day’s scores are available in a SQL table so would require calling the data from SQL and comparing previous day’s to current day’s and then sorting to find highest and lowest 10 changes.
Note: In the Excel workbook Factor Score Reporting Layer – the table data for %Tile Factor Score Calculations and Raw Factor Score Calculations as well as the Percentile Factors and Raw Factors are the same. The file layout will be as is shown but the data is not yet available.
Hi, I have more 10 years experience in MS Access, MS Excel and VB (VB.NET), so I'm realy GURU in this. I can help you with this project. Best Regards, Alex
