I work with spread sheets every day as part of what I do I deal with items lists that include: a. quantity, b. price, and c. total quantity x price. More often than not I get spreadsheets where the price (each) given is actually the sum price. I basically need a macro that will perform a simple division and field cut and paste in 3 fields. The problem is that these 3 fields may be in different locations in different templates when I receive them. What I have to do is take the total value, divide by the quantity, and take that value and paste into the price each field.
TAKE "TOTAL"; (STORE VALUE); DIVIDE by "QUANTITY"; PASTE product in PRICE EACH field; then PASTE TOTAL in correct field. THEN goto next row and replicate forever until STOP button, or encounter empty QUANTITY field
I need to automate across an entire worksheet using a macro button, that when run:
a. identify/ask sum price row/column
b. identify/ask price each row/column
c. identify/ask total price row/column
//this is done only once and stays in play unless the "reset rows & columns button is pressed
a. take sum price
b. divide by quantity
c. insert into price each field
d. insert total price into total price field
- an undo button would be a plus.
So macro operations are:
a. main Run button - runs from tool bar or somewhere always available - opens pop-up window with 3 sets of 2 boxes for:
- enter "QUANTITY" row:_____ column ______
- enter "PRICE EACH" row_____ column______
- enter "TOTAL" row______ column_____
b. EXECUTE button performs the action of:
<for each subsequent row until STOP or empty field>
- take total price value <store it>
- divide by QUANTITY
- write to PRICE EACH field
- write TOTAL back to TOTAL fields
I would like to be able to test/validate, and provide feedback for a second "tweaking". 50% milestone on start, 50% on completion.
