Preview Engraving Image
We offer personalised engraving as a service on certain items (e.g. add [url removed, login to view] to your cart) and it would be a nice feature for the customer to preview what the engraving may look like on that item. For each item that can be engraved, we would have an image of the item and two sets of co-ordinates so you can plot the engravable area. We would capture the item id and the text to be engraved and pass to the flash app which would overlay the text onto the image within the boundaries in order to give the customer an idea of how it will look.
It is similar to how [url removed, login to view]+UTD works (though this isn’t flash)
We will pass to the flash app via the flash vars the following pieces of information:
• The item name (itemid)
• The text to be engraved (engravetext)
• Font to be used
The app will process this information and return the image with the text overlaid in the correct area.
• Flash object
We will make available the following resources:
• Image library – an image for each item that can be engraved
• Co-ordinates – the position for each file that text can be overlaid
• An XML file containing the image location and coordinates for each item.
If the coordinates are missing or the image does not exist, we will use a default placeholder image and a strapline saying “this is a sample image” will appear.
