This is a full time (40 hours/week) contract role for 6 months with the possibility of longer term if it is a good fit for all parties. After a successful sell-out mint of our first NFT skateboard collection, SkateX is seeking a talented Game Designer to help create the next generation of web3 games. We’ve got an open canvas for you to conceptualize and develop your vision throughout this skateboard world.
SkateX is an upcoming massively multiplayer online game (MMO) in which players own their own one-of-a-kind skateboards that can be used both in-game and in the wider Web3 universe.
SkateX is developed by Block Tackle, Inc. a new studio led by video game veterans from EA, Kabam, Lucasfilm, Roblox, Sega and Supercell. Our fun-first immersive games leverage blockchain technology, allowing players to own their own digital assets.
About the Role
The Game Designer will have a passion for all genres of games and a knack for understanding industry trends, design systems and player experiences. They have the ability to share their knowledge and be a skilled communicator with excellent documentation skills. They will also have to be able to work independently under pressure to produce results under a tight schedule. This role is fully remote and will require communication with team members globally.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
-Work closely with the Game Lead to understand the design goals of the project, crafting designs to execute on the vision
-Plan and communicate the game roadmap with the Game Lead to stakeholders, outlining requirements to each respective team function
-Develop design policies, establishing best practices for upcoming features and content
-Review the performance of released features and iterating on areas of improvement
-Own large feature updates targeted toward agreed upon milestones
-Assist with weekly live ops designs and implementation
-Ability to digest live and historical data and provide proposals on improvements to game economy, system and user health performance.
Keep up-to-date with trending and competitive games in the blockchain space
-A minimum of 3+ years of experience as a game designer or product role for a live operated game
-Shipped at least 2 games (sports titles, skateboard knowledge is a plus but not necessary)
-Excellent skill in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets, PowerPoint
-Strong understanding of mobile, free-to-play, and games-as-a-service
-Monetization design and analytics expertise
-Knowledge in blockchain games, staking and tokenomics
-SQL skills are a huge plus

-Demonstrates mastery in design theory, core design loops and economy design
-Possesses excellent knowledge of design principles
-Possesses a positive track record in terms of planning, designing, and managing to execution
-Excellent knowledge/reasoning when it comes to game development and the realities of production, both from technical and conceptual standpoints
-Tactful and a strong communicator, able to mobilize and inspire a team
-Critical with a keen sense of observation, and able to express their ideas
