I've had a bit of trouble getting models created for a game mod project I'm involved with... seems that every time we're making progress with a modeller then they either get too busy with other stuff to work on it or they just lose contact. It's very frustrating.
Anyway, I'm looking for bids on 3d models created using 3ds Max 8 or below (though if you can export the models as the .obj format then that would be acceptable in a pinch as well.) The models will be low-poly, likely falling somewhere between 1000 and 6000 tri's. While we have a need for monsters/animals, vehicles, and humanoids, our biggest needs are monsters/animals and vehicles.
This project unfortunately has a very low budget as the entire cost of it is coming out-of-pocket... I'll pay what I can, and am willing to try and make steady work for a modeller (paying for each project as it comes up.)
In your bid, please let me know both your asking price and what you're willing to do for that price... you can send additional info via PM, but I don't want to have to keep switching back and forth from PM's to bids just to see what a person is bidding. Keep in mind that some of the models are larger than others (either a large creature or they're mounted and the mount must also be modelled), so if you would charge different amounts for a large model (or 2 smaller models) and a single small model then please let me know.
While it would be great to have the models textured as well, that's not a necessity. I'd rather get more modelling work done and have to have them textured by someone else than to have fewer models with the textures included. Be sure to include whether your bid includes texturing in the amount.
So in your bid I'll need your price, what you're willing to do for that price, and whether the models will include textures and such. Any additional info you can send to me via PM. Bids are hidden, so you don't have to worry about what others think of your bid or them underbidding you just to get the job.
On the plus side, though, there's a pretty open timetable for this project. Current plans have us working on the mod for a good portion of the year before it's completed, so this isn't something that you'll have to have all of the work done for in a matter of days. I'm not asking you to drop higher-paying gigs to work on my models... you can use work from our team as filler to bring in a little extra work before and after larger gigs, or as a chance to get paid for making portfolio pieces. All credit for your models will be given to you in the documentation for our mod (which is one of the older and larger mods in the Dawn of War community.)
One final thing... the reference material that you'll be working from will be made primarily of pictures of Warhammer 40k miniatures. We'll do our best to provide you with multiple pictures of minis that are close-up, clear, and from multiple angles so that you can see what you're working with. If this is a problem for you or you're going to just demand professional concept art or something like that then please don't bid.
