Review the postcard design previously used and create effective 8.5” x 5.5” postcard fitting this format (white box necessary for international).

When project is awarded, Buyer will assign one of five postcards below to be designed.

Postcard 1:

Animation, Artistic

Character Design

Postcard 2:

Game, Franchise Sports

Game, Original Role Playing

Postcard 3:

Graphics, Technical

Original Light Mix Musical Score, New IP

Postcard 4:

Performance in a Comedy, Supporting

Song, Original or Adapted

Postcard 5:

Sound Mixing in Virtual Reality

Writing in a Drama

Local freelancer is preferred, especially college student.

Winning bidder will propose a design covering two categories in one postcard. Two to six previous postcards are available to winning bidder for reference (as sample only for Art Direction, Control Design, Camera Direction, Game Engineering, Lighting and Texturing, and Use of Sound categories). New designs will NOT use these sample categories but should improve upon any logo import errors seen in previous postcards.

Designs need to be extremely compelling and eye-catching. Replies from new bidders should talk briefly about the type of techniques they use to get a reader's attention, particularly visual and psychological techniques. Even if not used, it will demonstrate that you have the right instincts to design both text and image for advertisements. If needed, awarded bidder should audio chat with me for about an hour to discuss resources and potential ideas before designing.

Design work must include writing call to action and all other content in memorable ways, whether we agree on a universal message or different unique messages. Request to see and discuss samples.

Our printing company stated, "If we are printing with a bleed a ¼ extension of the art is greatly appreciated. If we are die cutting we have several shapes in stock and would have to make a die for any other dimension. Note previous cards produced were 8.5’’x5.5’’." Therefore, we should stick to this size to avoid expense of die cut.

Postcards should be delivered in PDF and Illustrator (.ai) and, if requested, Photoshop (.eps) format, and compatible with CS4 to open and view.

You will be asked to answer the following questions when submitting a proposal:

Share an example of how you used typography in a creative way. What in your mind constitutes strong typography?

Share examples where design of text affected overall framing and composition. What factors do you consider when deciding whether text or image is dominant or how text appears in, along, or against the angles or shapes of an image?

What experience do you have with video games? Also, if you were designing an icon to represent role playing games, what symbols or images would you consider?

Have you ever designed for direct mail printed postcards, especially international mailings?

What is your experience dealing with print shops to manage issues of resolution, bleed, cutting, standard sizes, custom sizes, card stock, etc.?
