I am a professor at a university and I am submitting a proposal to the National Science Foundation's "Expeditions in Computing" program. We have a "top-level" overview figure that includes all of the content in our proposal in one place. We have a concept now (think: powerpoint), but we want to beautify things a bit. I've attached the figure we have now. The overall structure: the arch with its two sides and accompanying text, the keystone that reads "BPC", the text making up the outline, the vertical pillars, the horizontal strata, that all needs to stay somehow. The name of our center is "CLASSIC", so that needs to also be prominent.
There are graphics associated with "test beds" and "applications". Those could potentially change, but need to be vaguely similar to what they are now. The "precision agriculture" application is made up of tiny robots that jump around farm fields collecting data with sensors. The Drug Delivery application is made up of tiny computer chips that are embedded in the pancreas to monitor cancer cells and deliver drugs precisely. The farm test bed is at Penn State (PSU) and the drug delivery test bed is at the CMU "in-vitro lab". (generically the former is a farm, the latter is a biology lab). These applications and test beds should look good in the figure.
So that's an overview of the project. We have a hard deadline of June 23. I realize this is a tight timeline, but I wanted to see what we could do.
I'm interested in whether the timeline is feasible, and what the budget might be for a project like this.
