The Munchkin Series is a number of books to help parents connect with their unborn child at 16 weeks and beyond. They’re great for expectant dads to feel like they’re playing some sort of role with baby when baby starts interacting inside mummy’s tummy.
I wrote the stories to read to my son and daughter during the third trimester and I honestly believe that my children’s fascination with animals but also the way I’m able to calm them to sleep with my voice stems from this interaction. I searched but couldn’t find any books for this stage of parenthood. I did find the below however:
"Babies hear sounds from the outside world at 16 weeks gestation," says Deena H. Blumenfeld, Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator. "They also recognize their parents' voices from the moment they are born. If dad sings to the baby while baby is still in the womb, baby will know the song, calm and look to dad."
With the right illustrations and creating both boy and girl versions, I think these stories would make a good series of books for expectant parents.
