I'm looking for someone to create fun & unique designs for Yeti-style insulated tumblers that will appeal to wide audiences. They will be laser engraved, so they need to be one-color. They can be fairly detailed. I'm wanting to do this on a commission basis - you will get $1 for every item sold with your design up to $200 per design with no cap on overall earnings. You will create the designs in Illustrator using a template I provide, and I will pay you once a week. All art must be original (no downloading from Creative Market/Adobe stock, etc.). All fonts must be commercially licensed. You will also need to check the USPTO TESS website to make sure that phrases aren't copyrighted before you make them. We can show you how to do that part. Your designs may be sold on Facebook, through our website, through Etsy, and through craft shows, so there will be a lot of exposure and a good chance to make decent money.
Please note, because a lot of the designs will be text-based, you need to have a very good handle on the English language if it's not your native language. Please re-read the description before bidding. The payment is based upon the performance of each design. It's a risk for both of us - if your design doesn't sell, we don't pay. If it sells well, we pay more than we would have for a single design.
This agreement will be in force for the entire lifetime of the product. If we sell 10 items with your design a year from now, we will still pay you the $10 commission if you haven't hit the lifetime $200 payout cap on that design, so as long as we continue to market your design, you are eligible to receive commission payments. We are looking to establish a long-term relationship. I currently sell 100-200 tumblers a day from a base of about 20 designs, so there is good potential here for someone that's confident in their design ability.
Our audience is primarily the Facebook crowd, and we use advertising there to get the majority of sales, so your designs need to mesh well with that type of atmosphere - where they elicit an "I want it now" type of response to capture an immediate sale. We currently do well with designs like "This might be vodka" or designs themed around a career, like nursing. We are growing rapidly and too busy to do our own designing any more so we are looking to add a competent designer to the team.
We will also eventually be looking for a t-shirt designer with illustration experience, so if you can do both, even better.
