A plain iOS OpenGL ES 2.0 Demo project with 2D parallax side scroll with five layers.
1. Uneven (random height wise) ground with stone texture with bump mapping.
2. Lightbulbs hanging at specific intervals.
3. Character with bump mapping.
4. Trees with bump mapping.
5. Brick wall background with bump mapping.
The bump mapping is based on the light coming from the lightbulbs. The character moves at a constant rate and the terrain updates accordingly. Also, the projection needs to be perspective, not orthographic.
The closest I can use as an example to help describe this, would be the Tiny Wings game: [url removed, login to view]
The only thing I'm interested in, is in the OpenGL ES 2.0 implementation for performance assessment, there's no game logic required.
The Project should include basic optimization setups such as Vertex Indexing, Vector Buffer Objects, aligned vertex data and displayLink usage, etc.
The usage of external libraries such as Cocos2D are not to be used.
Avoid Objective-C, only using it for the boilerplate code to set up the project and EAGL classes. Absolutely no usage of GLKit.
C or C++ can be used based on preference.
The project target is iOS 7 iPhone with 4 inch retina display.
I will provide texture assets and corresponding bump maps.
