I'm pretty far along in a board game I've been working on for multiple years and am ready to hire an artist to do at least a portion of the work so that a Kickstarter page can get put up. The project will ultimately take, at minimum, 170 unique images, but we'll only do everything if the Kickstarter campaign gets funded. For now I'm looking for three concept pieces as I search for the right person to pay to do 20-30 images with the understanding that if the project is funded they will be paid and expected to do 150 more.
Price is negotiable, but so you understand my ballpark I expect to pay somewhere around $800 for the initial 20-30 images.
If interested, here are the initial pieces I would like to see.
Image: Naclin the Sea Dwarf
For: Player Mat
Layout: Vertical rectangle, will end up being among the largest images in the game.
In my mind's eye: An angry, axe-wielding, slightly crazy looking blue-skinned dwarf with an unkempt frosty beard. His clothes and boots are rather plain but his axe is masterfully crafted and of the highest quality, with runic designs glowing a bright blue to contrast the dark grey stone and steel the rest of the axe is made from. He's standing facing the "camera" with his axe held prominently in front of him, one eye almost twitching with anxiety as he seems ready to sprint at you for looking at him the wrong way.
Actual requirements: Dwarf with a light blue skin and an either lighter-blue or white beard wielding a dope axe.
Image: Naclin swinging his axe
For: Naclin's combat card - Slash
Layout: Horizontal Rectangle, takes up just under half of the top half of a standard playing card.
In my mind's eye: A yelling Naclin is in mid-swing as his axe takes up most of the image.
Actual requirements: Naclin swinging his axe. It can either be a swing toward something out of the frame or connecting with a creature/monster of your choosing. Whichever it is, though, sets precedent for the many other images like this one.
Image: Desert-Hound Cultist
For: Enemy card Desert-Hound Cultist
Layout: Horizontal Rectangle, takes up just under half of the top half of a standard playing card, a little less than a player combat card but I can probably change that to make them the same.
In my mind's eye: A long snout of a dog-like humanoid pokes out from the hooded blood-red cloak obscuring most of the figure. It holds a wavy, crooked ritual dagger in one of its furry hands as the backwards jointed ankle things that dogs have digs into the dirt ready to spring forward.
Actual requirements: A hooded dog or jackal humanoid with a dagger or two.
