We're looking for an artist to help with 2D games. The first project is a simple game centered around falling snowflakes. It's mostly static environmental art, however some character animation will be required. Logo, icon, and menu design would also be helpful, but not required as part of this job. We're primarily looking for the best possible game art.
We'll start with a small project and ramp up from there. The first project we have in mind has a tight schedule, so there will be a good amount of work in the first week or two. If things work out well, we have a number of projects in mind for the year and would like to keep an ongoing relationship to help with those.
The main components of the first project are:
- Baby Grasshopper - Animated to move and jump. Animations can be simple, and preferably only 3-5 frames, just enough to convey walking and jumping. In game it will be displayed around 40-60 pixels high, so keep it simple. Will also be used in main menu or cinematics, so one higher-res with more details also.
- Snowflakes - Need various shapes and sizes. The Grasshopper will move around them, so they should be 3-10 times his size. Some should be more circular, others more angular. 5 different varieties to start.
- Waves - Snowflakes will be falling into a river, so need a water drawing that can be layered and moved up/down to simulate waves
- Island - Grasshopper will start in the corner of the screen on a bit of land, so need a small island to start on
If these turn out well and don't take too long, we have more ideas to use in the game.
The art style should be simple, but not too cutesy or goofy. Think more like Rolando ([url removed, login to view]), less like Cut the Rope ([url removed, login to view]). Simple and clean is what we're looking for. This isn't a doodle game and we don't want pixel art!
You should be familiar with Illustrator and probably Photoshop. If not familiar with Illustrator, Flash is also acceptable. Vector artwork is preferable. Prior animation experience is good, but not strictly required. We definitely want to see samples of your work.
VERY IMPORTANT: To separate you from the spammers, please write ILOVEGAMES as the first line of your bid. We will delete all bids that do not start with this phrase, since most bidders never read the requirements. Thank you for being one who does.
There may be ongoing work for this project, depending on the level of success, so please submit an hourly bid on this project.
