Individual Cartoon Characters for Web Site
Look and feel
The characters to be drawn will be used on a web site that discusses the concerns of ordinary working people. The web site on which they will appear discusses serious matters. Our expectation is that the "cartoon" aspect of the characters will help soften the site while still making it feel approachable.
The characters should seem friendly and approachable, but unhappy about their situation. The characters should make the viewer think it could be them.
Our firm has gathered up a series of cartoon character samples that are fairly close to the styles we will accept. These sample images have been attached to this offer or will be sent upon request.
We will accept one of two possible "styles". These styles are described very generally below. You must carefully review the representative samples before bidding.
Representative style #1
Cartoon characters have sharper lines in face and a bit more attention to detail in the clothing and props they may be holding.
Representative style #2
Cartoon characters have less definition in face and clothing.
The characters drawn must look similar to either of the two styles as shown in the provided samples. We may consider other styles, but they must be pre-approved.
Each character must look like it was drawn by the same artist. The characters must look good together. Differing artistic styles are not acceptable.
Each character should look either sad, disappointed or concerned.
Each character must have a proud or dignified posture. No slouching or other appearances of defeat.
Each character should evoke a sense of empathy from the person looking at them. (The character should not display "violence", "rage" or any extreme emotion.)
Each characters is standing and facing the viewer.
Each character must be drawn so that there are no exaggerated features. No long noses, big ears, long chins or any other comic enhancement.
Each character should be drawn individually so that this company can arrange them in front or behind each other at some later date.
Each character should be drawn so that most people can identify what they do. (They're props should be defined well enough.)
Each image should be drawn as a vector graphic or as a bitmap that is high enough to allow for scaling. This company will use InkScape to arrange and scale the images. Please verify that the format you provide will work.
