to be very very careful!!!
This is a little warning to those who are thinking of drop shipping items for projects on here.
Please be aware that some of the posts are definitely fake and the people posting them are definitely fake and all they want is the money and they will go to any length to get it by fair means or mostly foul. Many of them are serial fraudsters and skilled manipulators.
You will be asked to ship items for commission and once they sell send the balance to a Paypal account or similar. This is why most demand a hi-limit and fully verified account with no hold on the Paypal and require you to have an established Ebay account.
What happens in many cases is the person will then disappear with the money leaving you with extremely upset customers and having to refund them out of your own pocket. You will probably lose your Ebay and Paypal account and if you cannot afford the charge backs have a black mark placed on your credit score and have your information passed to a debt collection agency. Ebay don't like dropshippers for any number of reasons as invariably it causes them problems either with the timescale and or the quality of the product.
My advice is always make sure you carry out due diligence before engaging with anybody who claims to have products to sell. I've caught no end of unscrupulous people out by doing this. If you need more information in this area then please respond and I will assist.
Secondly ask why the project manage isn't selling items directly themselves after all anyone can have an Ebay and Paypal account and sell themselves right?
Are they counterfeit items? Are they VeRO (Restricted Branded) items? There's a lot of questions you need to ask. Please let me know if you need further assistance in this area. Don't be blinded by the $$$ and lose your common sense. That's what the fake project manager wants you to do don't play into their hands.
Now of course I'm not saying that all sales projects posted on Freelancer are fake by any means but you do need to keep your wits about you as Freelancer doesn't protect you in case of the project you choose to bid for being a fraudulent one.
Take my advice if there are any lingering doubts or inconsistencies in what the project manager advises you it's best to steer clear.
There are also other variations of these scams and I can also provide names of the people responsible and the type of scam they use.
Please be very careful as I know from personal experience it is very easy to get taken for a lot of money by people who have no stock to sell or no intention of supplying your customers
