Iphone / Ipad simple Application

I need a little application for entering in meter reading data.

The user will walk around a neighbourhood and get the meter reading of every house in every street.

To enable this They need to know all of the house addresses and meter numbers.

Lets say there are 1000 homes. The user will open the app at the first house on their "run" they will be presented with the Address of the house, the meter id and the last meter reading. They will then simply enter a new meter reading.

then click next. This button will take them to the next house they have to read. (should be next door) they check the meter ID and then enter its meter reading, then go to the next house and so on. Eventually they will have finished the entire run.

Once complete they need to be able to go to a menu and export results back into a CSV. This CSV will have similar format of Meter ID | Address | Meter reading |

This is for areas that may not have web access so needs to be a local application.

So to summarise

1) Imports a 1000 line text file (csv or similar) in to a little database. (this is an export from a billing system) the database has the following fields

Walk ID | Meter ID | Address | Meter reading | Date Read | Last Date Read | Last Reading

2) When the meter reader is entering the values he needs to be able to either enter a meter reading, or alternatively select from a drop down list that includes; Could not gain access to meter, could not find meter.. then they can move to the next house.

This needs to be run every 3 months so before they import the meters in the next quarter they should be able to store the data fro the previous read..

so it may be step one to enter date of the meter readings. and assign a date to the run.

I can provide the default import file upon request.. quick job.

The run details must be downloaded via the app prior to the run.

This button will take them to the next house they have to read. (should be next door) they check the meter ID and then enter its meter reading, then go to the next house and so on, they need to have a default date time of the current date and the app should allow them to override it, they also need to be able to skip any houses meatier read and enter in a comment as to why the skip button was selected.

If a house has been skipped a contact note entry for that customer needs to be added via a web service when the reads are uploaded.


Eventually they will have finished the entire run.

Once complete they need to be able to go to a menu and export results back into a CSV. This CSV will have similar format of Meter ID | Address | Meter reading | And upload the run via a web service(details to be provided)

This is for areas that may not have web access so needs to be a local application. My thoughts are that while they are in the office they download the data from the web based database using web service query or downloading a CSV, the preference is to pull in using webservices. Then when they have populated their local database they go off to walk around the streets to collect the data.

I can provide the web service detail upon request.. Should be a pretty quick job.
