The existing pano functionality built in to the iPhone OEM camera app has been built with certain assumptions in mind, and operates according to rules based on those assumptions. I am asking for the development of a camera app with the following changes from OEM pano functionality:
1) The OEM pano assumes that the user will be turning in a circle, and shuts off when it estimates the camera to have made 360 degrees rotation, resulting in an image which is never more than ~16000+ pixels wide. I would like my pano app to operate more like a video camera, in that the user marks start and stop manually, e.g. 720 degrees rotation if the user turns in a circle twice, etc.
2) The OEM pano provides a level line and arrow as a guide while taking a pano shot. If the arrow deviates from the level line the app discards data: if the arrow deviates above the line, it discards the lower corner of the image, resulting in a black region, and if the arrow deviates below the line, it discards the upper corner of the image (see uploaded images). If the OEM app can be understood to be capturing vertical lines 1px by 3600px and stacking them together, it must be performing a calculation: the arrow is x units above the line, therefore stack this vertical line y pixels above the previous one. I would like my pano app to stack whatever is captured in each successive vertical line side by side, without making calculations. The result should be a rectangular image with a fixed height of ~3600 pixels and variable width, without black regions and without discarded data.
