This project is a part of a web based forecasting tool for hotels that will be available to hotels as SaaS. This specific part is to adjust the forecast by looking at and comparing specific dates in the past as a starting point for the forecast for future dates. When the user clicks on "adjust market forecast" on the main screen the system will display the "adjust market forecast"-screen, which is the only screen in this part of the project.
The system will ask for the date that should be forcasted (=adjusted since the system will always calculate a forecast) and for three comparison dates. One exampel is Easter that will be on different dates every year. The sample screen shows Easter Good Friday. The system will display the date and three days before and three days after the date. The forecast for occupancy % and average rate for all of these in total 7 days will be available to adjust on the screen. As soon as a value in a field is changed the chart for that figure shall be updated as well as RevPAR (avgerage rate multiplied by occupancy %) figure and chart. Once all adjustments have been made, the revenue manager should be able to save the changes or save as (a new version of the forecast).
The user should be able to compare any dates with each other. Forecasting a Tuesday in October could be compared with a Tuesday in September, another Tuesday in April and a third Tuesday in October last year. The user should be able to compare Christmas Day with Christmas Days previous years even if they are not on the same weekday.
Attached is a sample database in Excel (should be in MySQL in the software) and an idea of what the screen should look like.
Screen should be programmed in HTML5 and the changes in charts and figures should be very quick and have an animated feel. Mouse over the bar chart should show date (and weekday if not the same for all dates).
