charset issues with javascript

Bug fix on passing field information across pages using javascript.

My <head> contains ([url removed, login to view] line 51):

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=gb2312" />

And I have a search box ([url removed, login to view] line 67). JS for the form is down the bottom of the page before the </head> tag.

The problem is that when I enter Chinese characters e.g. "&#39318;&#39029;" the JS is losing the character format in the passing to the [url removed, login to view] page.

I'm not certain if the problem lies in the field, the js of the index page or the js of the search page.

I'm also not certain of the ideal solution.

I am certain that for someone with the right knowledge this should be straight forward and quick to implement.
