We’d like you to join our team, where we’re creating a one-of-a-kind web based programming language. We think of it as “the programming language of behavior change”, as it's designed especially for applications in social science (e.g. studying what people do and why they do it) and health (e.g. treating mental health conditions). We’ve taught it to over a dozen non-programmers now who have been using it to build their own apps. Our extremely ambitious goal is to empower non-programmers to build amazing behavior related products that truly help people! We are a mission driven company that is focussed on creating good in the world.
Right now we’re looking to add two new developers to our team.
The pay is $25 U.S. per hour, and we are looking for people that can work at least 30 hours per week.
Unlike the vast majority of software companies, we are obsessive about high quality code. A project this complex will ultimately fail if the code is not of an unusually high caliber, and we will hold your code to a standard of excellence. If beautiful, clear, clean, simple, readable, concise and elegant code makes you happy, this work is for you.
As a team member you'll be solving challenging web development and programming problems while working from home. You'll be setting your own hours, and you'll have a great deal of independence, control, and flexibility.
Your input and ideas will meaningfully and substantially shape the product. Your efforts will help to make the product TRULY great. In addition to writing code, you will be involved in helping us think carefully through the product features, so that we can deliver as much value as possible to users.
At this job, you get to work at home with highly flexible hours that you set. Our entire team is remote. However, you will be able to get guidance on your work whenever you need it, and we’ll have weekly goal setting meetings to make sure everyone is on the same page. You’ll start out doing some remote pair programming to help you learn the code base and gain an understanding of our coding style.
You'll be part of a team where people are kind to each other, and where mean people are forbidden.
*The Mandatory Requirements For Applying*
(2) Mandatory: You must be a very strong programmer
(3) Mandatory: you must write very high quality code. We will hold you to a high standard. Low quality code is not acceptable to us. Good code is clean, elegant, simple, and makes hard problems seem easy. Bad code is hard to understand, and makes even easy problems seem hard.
Some other nice to haves, which are *not* mandatory are:
(1) Nice: Ruby and RoR experience
(2) Nice: CoffeeScript experience
(3) Nice: NoSQL database experience (e.g. CouchDB)
(4) Nice: programming language design interest or experience
(5) Nice: web app scaling/scalability interest or experience

(7) Nice to have: VIM experience
