The objective of this project is to re-style an existing web application with 4 tabbed pages.
The code is JSP, JS, HTML5 and CSS.
Some of the efforts should be dedicated to installing and deploying the existing application, prior to the implementation of your new coding.
The application is the UI component of a risk management system and the parts that you will need to modify is the styling, with some minor functionality modifications.
There shouldn’t be any significant change in functionality for this application, only in the UI layout and the styling.
The operation cycle of this application is similar for each tab and is as follows:
(i) on page load – the page consumes one or several REST services and uses the response data to populate tables and UI controls. This is done in two stages – first, the page receives data that is used for its UI controls, and secondly, it receives data to manipulate and display on its data tables.
(ii) In some cases, local storage is used to store data locally for persistency
(iii) On one page (LIVE) , the client establishes a duplex connection to a WebSocket end-point
(iv) There is also some processing and user reaction operations
(v) The ACTION page also uses a POST web service, for data submission.
Make sure that you/the team is proficient in the following subjects:
• JSON, XML, DOM and related subjects
• Netbeans IDE
• GlassFish application server including basic security ([login to view URL])
Summary of Tasks
1 Preparations: load the database dump, open the Netbeans server project, define the three users (admin, user1, user2) and test the services using the supplied welcome.jsp.
Set the security parameters (3 users + roles and restrictions from the supplied [login to view URL])
2 Deploy the application RtRisk, the main page to login (assuming from localhost):
and make sure that you can login and view some pages.
3 Study the existing code: Look at [login to view URL], [login to view URL], [login to view URL], [login to view URL], [login to view URL] and in the script files: [login to view URL], [login to view URL], [login to view URL] [login to view URL], and see how the tables are implemented.
4 Look carefully at the new design images and compare it with the existing application windows.
5 Implement the changes in the login screen
6 Implement the changes on BALANCES and TRADES – it is only stylistic
7 Implement the changes on the LIVE page
8 Implement the changes on the ACTIONS page
9 Test your work and compare it to the old style.
10 Test on other browsers: Google Chrome, MS Edge
