school system por recording grades

I have a school system for recording grades (evaluations) of students. It is developed with Laravel 4.2 and Postgres. Each subject's record has final averages and partial sub-averages for each student. The grades are represented in letters, where AD=4, A=3, B=2, and C=1, and the final averages are already calculated automatically, but not the sub-averages. What we want is to correct the system so that the partial sub-averages are also calculated, and based on them, the final average of each student is calculated.

Tengo un sistema escolar para registrar notas (evaluaciones) de alumnos. Está desarrollado con Laravel 4.2 y Postgres. Cada registro de una asignatura tiene promedios finales y subpromedios parciales para cada alumno. Las notas son en letras, donde AD=4, A=3, B=2 y C=1, y los promedios finales ya son calculados automáticamente, pero no los subpromedios. Lo que deseamos es corregir el sistema para que los subpromedios parciales sean también calculados y a partir de ellos, se calcule el promedio final de cada alumno.
