My project is mainly concerned in making plastic tiles made from used cooking oil, used plastics, Styrofoam and saw dust. This particular project is to give benefit to those who are planning to flourish their own home and for outdoor purposes also. We had analyze the methods and procedures that will partake in this said project. We also tested the behavior of plastic and Styrofoam when heated in oil, in which, it will melt and mix thoroughly with the oil. And the predicted durability of the tile was met in the finish product that was produced
This particular project is mainly pertaining to the Three R’s. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. All of us have problems on plastic wastes and also non biodegradable products which is hard to decompose. Our aim to this project is to set an example for our fellow students to be aware of the fast changing problems, which needs to start on our bare hands for a change.
This is a simple but has a great impact on our selves, tiles and hard compact products have been easily available but the value and price are easily manipulated too. So we brainstormed for this particular project and compiled the things which are easily available but hard to dispose and have been a problem on our society. And those are plastic products such as disposable plastic wrappers, cups, spoon and fork and also Styrofoam which is a big problem to our school when it comes to disposing it. And also, the nemesis of all household kitchen, used oil which when dispose in kitchen sink, clogged the passage way.
And the sum of all the ideas was this “Plastic tile” project. All the materials are easily available and an eco-friendly experiment. Also, the finish product of the tile can be transformed into many products for recreation and building matters. We initiated to perform this and research more to improve the capabilities and durability of the tile for further usage.
Plastics are commonly found in our daily living. You can always see them everywhere. Almost all products, are made of plastic, it’s like 75% of your house is plastic. Plastic is used to make things, it is ubiquitous. Pretty much everything that isn't made of metal or wood is made of plastic. Plastics are very useful because it can be colored, melted, shaped, squashed, rolled into sheets or made into fibers. Plastics are used a lot by doctors and dentists because they are hygienic and will not poison our bodies’ Plastic fibers are also used to make ropes that are very strong. Fishing lines are made of nylon.
This investigation about the usability and recyclability of used plastics, used cooking oil, Styrofoam and saw dust are mainly abiding the eco-friendly acts and Zero waste recycling management of the Philippines. Our group of investigators about this matter is going to partake in searching for the usefulness of the said materials, which we encounter as a menace to our society in terms of cleanliness and probably about our health.
This project is about Plastic tiles made from used plastics, Styrofoam, used cooking oil and saw dust. We are mainly considering the chemical composition of used cooking oil in binding the plastic and Styrofoam which will be the base tile and the saw dust as garnishing, texture and a non-stick agent that will limit the mould to stick into the tile itself. This plastic tile is durable enough to be used in outdoor and indoor furnishing. And this tile is multi-purpose itself.
This project is not only considering the school to partake in this movement, this project can also be applied as a livelihood in our communities, also as a family activity that can be used to prepare gardens and indoor purposes.
