In brief, there is a financial index for a client website that has not been updated for about a year.
As we went to update, we discovered that we must change/update the original list of 50 stocks. 11 of them are no longer traded, either due to going out of business or merger / acquisition, and 10 stocks now have market caps over the 300M limit, based on their *current* market cap figures.
Timing for inclusion of new stocks over the last 12 months is important to maintain integrity of index.
We have the systems in place for updating, but need an educated business / financial analyst to help us “fill the void” in the index created by the loss of a handful of companies, while keeping the integrity of index intact.
It is an existing equal weighted index of 50 companies designed to measure the performance of emerging oil and gas producers through changes in the prices of a cross section of small-cap, North American-traded oil and gas corporations involved in the exploration, production, and development of petroleum and natural gas. The Index was established with a benchmark value of 1,000 on January 1st, 2004.
